Create realistic sunken scars, cuts, wrinkles and textured skin effects without the need for prosthetics.
Rigid Collodion is a professional SFX product that contracts as it dries, gently pulling the skin inwards to create the appearance of an indented scar or damaged skin. The effect can be kept subtle or built up in thin layers for a deeper, more dramatic finish.
Perfect for Halloween makeup, character work, cosplay, film, TV and professional SFX, it can be combined with your favourite SFX palettes, bloods and other finishing products to create everything from old healed scars to fresh wounds and creature effects.
How to Use
Apply Rigid Collodion to clean, dry, oil-free skin.
For a more pronounced effect, gently stretch the skin and apply a thin layer of Collodion to the desired area. Allow it to dry completely before releasing the skin. As the product dries and contracts, it pulls the skin inwards to create that characteristic sunken effect.
For additional depth, apply further thin layers, allowing each layer to dry fully before applying the next.
For particularly realistic results, add your scar or wound colouring first, then apply Rigid Collodion over the top to create the physical indentation. Additional colouring or blood effects can then be added as required.
PRO TIP: Don't limit Collodion to straight scars. Experiment with irregular lines, pitted textures, wrinkles and small areas of damaged skin to create more natural-looking character effects.
How to Remove
Rigid Collodion should always be removed carefully. Do not pull or aggressively peel it from the skin, as this can cause unnecessary irritation or damage.
We recommend Kryolan FX Remover, the replacement for Kryolan's discontinued Collodion Remover.
Apply FX Remover to the area and allow it time to work, gently loosening and removing the Collodion from the skin. Repeat as required rather than pulling at the product.
Once completely removed, gently cleanse the area and apply a rich, heavy cream moisturiser to help rehydrate and condition the skin and protect it from further dryness or irritation.
DON'T FORGET YOUR REMOVER: If you're adding Rigid Collodion to your SFX kit, we strongly recommend picking up Kryolan FX Remover at the same time for proper removal after use.
